About

Ben Berndt Photography began four years ago as somewhat of a side hobby for me to do on weekends. I knew I enjoyed photography, but I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do with it at the time. Like many photographers, I had my start in landscape photography. This was mainly due to my love of the outdoors and specifically the Lake Superior shores in northern Minnesota. I learned a lot on how to manually shoot photos and the many different technical aspects to photography. It didn’t take long for me to start shooting action sports with my friends. These shoots were some of the more challenging sessions that I had ever had. Having to deal with poor lighting conditions and very fast moving subjects, I had to learn how to adjust on the fly and make sure I was always ready to get the shot.

These sessions were a perfect training ground for wedding photography. Weddings are very similar in the fact that you really can’t repeat a moment. Sure there are aspects of the wedding day that you can re-shoot if you need to, but it is the most important shots you can not miss. I was approached by my brother-in-law to shoot his wedding and before I could think about what I was agreeing to, I said sure. His wedding went really well and I had a blast shooting photos at it. That summer I shot three more weddings and learned a lot about how this very unique type of photography.

Please check out my personal site (LINK) as well if you want to learn more about our family and what we are up too from time to time.  There are lots of fun family photos over there too!!
